Welcome to the sixth newsletter. Feel free to share this newsletter with others! Feedback is always much appreciated. If you have interesting insights that should be in our newsletter as well, please let us know via info@howtodao.it

In this edition

As always, we present a General Market and a Scientific update section. Enjoy!

General DAO Market Update

We start with some general information this time. An interesting market research shows that the direct loss funds of DAOs after a hack only account for a relative small portion of loss. Value loss of the DAO governance token after the hack accounts for majority of the loss. Furthermore, as DAOs get more mature, they realize that choosing a legal structure for your DAO is very important! This article briefly explain the DAO legal structure of a so called Wyoming based DUNA. In the coming weeks there will be much more news on DAOs and legal structures!

As always, there are some new DAO kids on the block(chain): DAO of STON.fi swap dApp and foundational DeFi protocol on The Open Network (TON) went live beginning of December. Snorter Bot, a so called “token presale sniper tool” is set up for launching, claiming to be a DAO, although much remains unknown. Although not a true DAO, PENGU aims to involve their tokenholders to “influence” decisions. It also remains unclear what the exact purpose of PENGU is. As always, the best of luck for these DAOs and we hope you create true added value for the ecosystem.

A lot is going on around existing DAOs: This time a lot of news around AAVE. AAVE is one of the most interesting DAOs in the DeFi industry. Although they primarily act on the Ethereum network, they do work on their AAVE multichain strategies where a bit more on that is explained in this article. More AAVE news was related to the suspicion that certain fees from a partnership with CoW Swap are bypassed for the DAO treasury. Finally, there are some internal tensions within the DAO. An explosive Aave DAO proposal aims to seize control of Aave Labs’ IP and equity. This so called “poison pill proposal” follows on a years internal governance debate.
Although not something specific new is mentioned in this article, they do once again point out the blockchain-for-good sustainability goals of KlimaDAO who aim to aggregate tokenized carbon credits into a digital marketplace with on-chain treasury mechanics. 21 DAO has entered into a partnership with Tilted to merge AI-powered social tools with an on-chain community to build a smarter, dynamic, and AI-driven digital economy. The K9 Finance DAO has set a deadline for January 6th 2026 for the resolution deadline following unresolved issues from the September 2025 Shibarium bridge exploit. If the deadline pass without complete victim compensation, the DAO will vote whether maintaining operations on Shibarium remains beneficial for the, meaning they could opt for another infrastructure.

A more economic market update: Coinbase just listed BEAM, the native token of the Merit Circle DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization focused entirely on the gaming metaverse and Web3. Furthermore is Toobit going to list BEB, a self-sustaining ecosystem where protocol success translates directly into financial benefits for its community. RaveDAO, a Web3 Gaming project made for a large online community, will now be listed on Bitget. Following various other DAOs, as displayed in previous newsletters, the Pyth Network is initiating a token buy back.

Scientific Update

Also in the science corner there were some interesting papers released in the past period. We will mention three of them. The first two are on healthcare and DAO related work this time. In their paper Schoenberg proposes a new architecture for metaversal integrative healthcare using decentralized autonomous organizations, working on “a pathway toward truly participatory, adaptive, and value-responsive healthcare systems for the new digital age”. The paper by Kormiltsyn et al explores the possibility of DAO consensus mechanisms to improve conflict resolution in decentralized e-health prescription creation workflows.

Another paper by Goel et al, explores how amongst other elements, DAOs are transforming economic coordination mechanisms across markets, institutions, and labor systems. They created a framework identifying three key dimensions that collectively redefine coordination costs, ownership structures, and economic agency.

As we are approaching the Christmas period, we will take a brief brake as well. But not to worry, we will return beginning of January 2026! In the meanwhile enjoy this newsletter or one of the previous ones! For now happy holidays and all the best for 2026.
